Trailer Of The Week: The Spooks Nightmare

June28

I don’t really know much about this series of books except that the trailer looks quite cool, here’s how Amazon describes it:

“The Spook, Tom and Alice return from Greece to find the County under siege – and the Spook’s home is burnt to the ground. With his precious library of knowledge destroyed, they seek refuge on the nearby island of Mona. But with Mona in the thrall of a twisted Shaman there is little respite from hostility or denizens of the dark. And as Alice dodges the ever-tightening net of the island’s witch hunters, a more deadly enemy emerges…Bony Lizzie, freshly-escaped from the Spook’s bonds, has grand ambitions: to take for herself the throne of isle. She has harnessed the services of a tunnel-dwelling buggane, an evil creature which thrives on stealing the animas, or life force, from its unsuspecting victims. With the buggane as her secret weapon can she become an all-powerful Witch Queen?”

And here’s the trailer for the series:

The Spooks Nightmare was published by Bodley Head Children’s Books on the 27th May 2010.

Coming Soon: The Forbidden Game By L. J. Smith

June23

I saw this one in this weeks Simon Teen newsletter and loved the cover. It’s written by L J Smith (The Vampire Diaries) so this is enough to get me excited about it already even though it’s not out until next month.

The Blurb
“It all started with a board game. But what was supposed to be an evening of friends, fun, and games, becomes a night of danger, drama, and obsessive love. Because when Jenny and her friends try to play the Game, it comes to life. Suddenly they are in a dark world where Julian, the gorgeous guy who sold Jenny the game, rules as Prince of the Shadows. Julian is in charge, making their darkest nightmares reality. And he will do anything to claim the beautiful Jenny as his prize. The Game is real, and these friends must play through – and the only way to win is to face their most secret fears. To lose the Game is to lose your life. And that is only the beginning…”

The Forbidden Game is released as a bind up of The Hunter; The Chase; and The Kill in the UK from the 8th July 2010, publised by Simon & Schuster Childrens. You can read an extract here.

Trailer Of The Week: The Sky Is Everywhere

June22

This post is a day later than it normally would be (mainly because I posted In My Mailbox yesterday) and next week should be the same but normal service will be resumed the week after.

Anyway this weeks trailer of the week is the trailer for The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson which is published by Walker Books in the UK. I just love the background music!

Twilight (Twilight Saga) by Stephanie Meyer
When 17 year old Isabella Swan moves to Forks, Washington to live with her father she expects that her new life will be as dull as the town. But in spite of her awkward manner and low expectations, she finds that her new classmates are drawn to this pale, dark-haired new girl in town. But not, it seems, the Cullen family. These five adopted brothers and sisters obviously prefer their own company and will make no exception for Bella. Bella is convinced that Edward Cullen in particular hates her, but she feels a strange attraction to him, although his hostility makes her feel almost physically ill. He seems determined to push her away ? until, that is, he saves her life from an out of control car. Bella will soon discover that there is a very good reason for Edward’s coldness. He, and his family, are vampires ? and he knows how dangerous it is for others to get too close.

New Moon (Twilight Saga) by Stephanie Meyer
I stuck my finger under the edge of the paper and jerked it under the tape. ‘Shoot,’ I muttered when the paper sliced my finger. A single drop of blood oozed from the tiny cut. It all happened very quickly then. ‘No!’ Edward roared …Dazed and disorientated, I looked up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm – and into the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires. For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of an evil vampire but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realise their troubles may just be beginning …

Trailer Of The Week: Pastworld

June14

This trailer first came to my attention last week on Wondrous Reads and it is so well done that I couldn’t help it – it just had to be this weeks trailer of the week. It so well shows you what the book is about and with real people as well.

The trailer is for Pastworld by Ian Beck and published by Bloomsbury.
